Rooted in the upper Midwest of Turtle Island and the Mississippi watershed, I am a bridge between worlds—seen and unseen, past and future, land and lineage. I walk the road of the Wounded Healer, transforming personal and collective trauma into medicine. My lifelong sensitivities to subtle Otherworldly energies inspire my eclectic path as a multidimensional healing practitioner, careworker, animist ritualist, educator, and folk artist.

All my work is devoted to intergenerational healing and cultural reconnection - an offering toward embodiment, presence, and authentic connection with the animate world - and is informed by a broad foundation in both academic study and direct experiential learning. I synthesize many wisdom traditions as I weave together diverse healing modalities, cosmologies, and artistic practices to support holistic transformation.

Deeply attuned to fluidity as an ecological, relational, and spiritual force, I seek nuance over labels, embracing complexity and contradiction. Committed to dismantling inherited power structures, I see my frontline work in how I parent, nurture community, and tend the land—both at my home in Minneapolis and my off-grid sanctuary in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. And I attempt to walk humbly, preferring to focus on embodied relational grassroots connection over public visibility, aspiring to become a beloved elder and culture keeper in my community.

Please enjoy this overview snapshot of my journey thus far, with a few pictures taken along way by me as well as friends, family, and colleagues. If you have questions about my background and winding path, please ask. I’m happy to elaborate.

Raised in a working-class family steeped in healing arts, activism, and trad music, I grew up with a deep connection to culture and nature. My mother, a leader in lymphedema treatment, also practiced bodywork, yoga, transcendental meditation, and herbalism, instilling in me a reverence for holistic healing. Music was central to my upbringing, with regular jam sessions in our home shaping my sense of belonging. I was creative from an early age, writing music and exploring visual and performing arts. At age twelve I began practicing transcendental meditation.

My formal education began with a B.A. in Biology from Knox College (2003), where I specialized in systems ecology and habitat restoration, alongside studies in human development, religious and environmental philosophy, and ancient history. I conducted field research in Tanzania and Costa Rica, focusing on habitat fragmentation and ecological resilience, while also staying deeply engaged in music, dance, and the arts. During summers, I worked in wildlife rehabilitation, where caring for birds of prey left a lasting imprint on my heart.

Expanding on my education (2009-2012), I pursued post-baccalaureate studies at the University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality and Healing, earning certifications in Integrative Therapies & Healing Practices : Health Coaching. I was a recipient of the Marilyn Sime Scholarship and studied various healing traditions including: environmental health, ethnobotany, ethnopharmacology, mind-body therapies, restorative justice and forgiveness, yoga philosophy, Ayurveda, Chinese medicine, acupressure, Tibetan medicine, cross-cultural shamanic healing, reiki, botanical medicine, functional medicine and food therapy, the art of healing, and wholistic health coaching. In 2010 I traveled to India, where I trained at the Men-Tsee-Khang Tibetan Medical & Astro Institute and received the Medicine Buddha initiation, enhancing my understanding of Tibetan healing traditions. I interned at Pillsbury House Integrated Clinic and volunteered there, as well as Pathways Health Crisis Resource Center, for a year after graduation. I also studied with several community teachers during this time, practicing regular hatha / bhakti yoga and Thai-yoga bodywork, and learning indigenous cosmologies within ceremonial context.

In 2013 I earned a Master’s degree in Chinese Medicine from Northwestern Health Sciences University, where I specialized in Classical Chinese medicine with an emphasis on shen (spirit, mind, and emotions). My clinical training included internships at Abbott Northwestern Hospital’s Penny George Institute, Fairview Hospital, Courage Kennedy Rehabilitation Institute, Aliveness Project, and Salvation Army Free Integrative Clinic. I founded a student club dedicated to exploring acupuncture research.

From 2015 to 2020, I founded and directed Tall Reeds Healing Arts, a Minneapolis-based community healing space that bridged spirituality, activism, and art. While at Tall Reeds I offered 1:1 carework, as well as organized and taught collaborative events and classes. I also taught classes at other healing spaces within the community - as well as served as faculty at the University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality and Healing, and Northwestern Health Sciences University, teaching multiple courses with the health coaching masters program, as well as elective courses on shamanic healing and Chinese medicine.

Beyond academia, I have studied and trained extensively in trauma-informed somatic therapies, cross-cultural animisms and shamanic healing, trance work, grief rituals, relational healing work, sexual healing practices, sound healing, and mythology. I have learned from esteemed mentors in social justice movement work, animist traditions, ceremonial work, plant medicine, and energetic healing practices - integrating these disciplines into my holistic approach. My personal healing journey through somatic therapy, relational coaching, and ceremonial arts continues to inform my practice.

As a community educator and ritual facilitator, I have contributed to multiple communal gatherings such Moon Mountain, Origins Gathering, and the Spirit Weavers Gathering where I offered classes and helped create the Come Unity Village team (2018-2020) which fosters cultural awareness and anti-racism education. Over the years I have designed and led online courses, events, and gatherings, such as Tending the Witch Wound (2018) a year long course exploring the intergenerational trauma of the European witch trials. Locally I have organized and hosted many classes, gatherings and ceremonies including Moon Sisters Mpls (2016-2018), Dream Cauldron series (2021), Witch Jam series (2021), Keening Coven (2022), Wyrd Coven (2022), Becoming Vessel (2023), Bard Party series (2024), Wyrding Well series (2024), and Laughing While Crying series (2025). .

Since 2020, I have transitioned into a home-based healing practice, balancing my professional work with the rhythms of single parenthood and artistic creation. I continue to see clients virtually and in person for 1:1 carework, as well as host gatherings and events. My path of study continues to evolve, deepening my understanding of complex trauma healing, attachment repair, somatic integration, mythic embodiment, herbal medicine, and indigenous traditions. I work closely with respected teachers and elders in these fields, exploring how intergenerational trauma and cultural wounds shape the spirit, psyche, and body, while integrating relational dynamics, ritual, and ceremony into my practice

Alongside my therapeutic studies, I have immersed myself in the mythopoetic/mythosomatic and animist arts, engaging with mentors who emphasize the transformative power of ritual, mythic storytelling, and dreamwork. My training includes psychodramatic techniques, Taoist dream yoga practices, animist ritual, and oracular practices, which I braid into both my healing and creative work, fostering deeper connections between body, story, and spirit. In 2023 I joined The Mythic Body with Josh Schrei of The Emerald Podcast as a facilitator and continues to teach at the intersections of animism, myth, somatics, ritual, and spiritual devotion.

My expanding ceremonial and spiritual community has been a profound thread in my journey, leading me to study with beloved elders and wisdom keepers, and allowing me to refine my embodied understanding of the reciprocal relationship between humans and the more-than-human world. My on-going prayers focus on personal and collective healing through regenerating strong communal relations and local ecologies, uplifting sacred songs, honoring spirit allies and ancestors, and welcoming the support of plant consciousness within the context of traditional ceremonies and indigenous cosmologies to transform patterns at this time in history.

As a musician and performer, I continue to explore the intersection of sound, ritual, and altered states of consciousness. I have studied the neurobiology of sound healing, vocal resonance practices, and the use of rhythm and toning for trance induction and nervous system support and ritual invocation. Under the name Scinnlæce, I invoke ancestral remembrance, trance-inducing soundscapes, and sacred songs into my artistic expression, integrating my healing work with my creative endeavors.

I remain committed to lifelong learning, continuously weaving together ancient wisdom, modern therapeutic insights, and lived experience to support personal and collective healing. Thank you for walking with me on this path.
