Becoming VESSEL : a ceremonial spirit party + devotional playspace

In this ceremony we will be collectively practicing becoming vessels for the animate forces to come through in palpable and purposeful ways. 

We will do this by exploring the following : 

• Enacted devotional animist rituals and invocation

• Movement play, breath play, improv play, drumming polyrhythmic play, singing/chanting/sounding play

• Group trance induction and transitioning among various altered states

• Working with intentional spirit possession, courting the Muses

• Protocols for opening and closing the portals, energetic hygiene, safety and ethics 

• Contemplative practice, death practice, transitory states

• Collective dreaming with the land and cosmos

• Storytelling as spellcasting

• Art as devotional offering

• Ecstatic somatics and fostering lunacy (we will have an almost full moon) 

• Decolonial frameworks, sacred activism praxis, culture change work

• Aligning to our mystic paths

• Community weaving and magical networks
  

Who is this ceremony calling together : 

All forms of artists and musicians, animist healing practitioners, spirit workers, grassroots visionaries, decolonial witches, magical activists, modern mystics, curious and open minded weirdos. 

Logistics and Location : 

This is an outdoor camping ceremony (pack in/out and leave no material trace) on beautiful private land in Wisconsin, about an hour drive east of the Twin Cities. More logistic details will come upon registration. 

Date / Time : 

Saturday July 29th 2pm (ceremony begins) - Sunday July 30ths 1pm (ceremony closes) 

You will be able to arrive on the land beginning at 1pm on Saturday and leave by 2pm on Sunday. 

Exchange : 

I am offering this by donation and suggesting a sliding scale. 

$80 - $120  - I am living on a tight budget without a lot of extra cash at hand

$130 - $210 - I am financially stable but still have a budget I’m working within

$220 - $330 - I am financially well resourced and have extra cash each month for fun stuff after bills are paid and savings stored up - and I want to support Portia in this work and help subsidize other folks who don’t have my financial flexibility. 

How to register : 

My preferred method is if you send your donation via Venmo to my account (search for Portia-Richardson). Please use the private setting and the type “VESSEL” + your email into the subject box. When I “like” your payment, this is your unofficial confirmation that you are on my list until I send out the official logistics email after registration closes.

All donations are non-refundable. If this ceremony is canceled in the event of dangerous storms or unforeseen curveballs we will reschedule for a later date (Sept 30th-Oct 1st is the back up weekend).

All event logistics and further ceremony preparation details will be emailed out after registration closes.
